Follow these strategies for writing a strong letter:

  • Start directly: In your first paragraph, clearly state why you’re writing. State the job position and the name of the company, and also explain where you found the job listing. While you can also briefly explain why you’re a strong candidate, this section should generally be brief and to the point.
  • Offer something different than what’s on your resume: It’s rare to send an application letter without sending a resume. Therefore, your application letter doesn’t have to duplicate your resume. Your language can be a little more personal than resume bullet points — you can tell a story about your work experience and career.
  • Make a good case. Your first goal with this letter is to move on to the next step: an interview. Your overarching goal, of course, is to get a job offer. Use your application letter to advance both of these reasons. Provide details about your experience and background that show why you’re a good candidate. How have other jobs prepared you for the position? What will you bring to the position and the company? Use this space to emphasize your strengths.
  • End the letter with all the important details. Write a thank you at the end of your letter. You can also share your contact information. If you wish, state how you will follow up.

Organizations may advertise the positions lying vacant with them. Some of them either maintain their databank or rely upon those kept by placement agencies to call suitable candidates at the time of need. It is also becoming common for organizations these days to receive the Curriculum Vitae (CV) by fax or email. One can get a job without applying for it in writing. For example: you can get a job through campus recruitment, an employment agency, or a company’s employment office. In the latter case, you are selling a product or service; whereas in the former, you are selling your skills, expertise, and qualifications your strengths and weaknesses, and your ability to perform well.

I passed my Senior Secondary examination in Commerce stream from Mount Carmel School, New Delhi in 2004 scoring an aggregate of 89%.
